Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American singer and model from the United States. Also, she was co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film Purple Rain. Kotero is famous for her role as co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the singer in the girl group Apollonia 6. It was among the many female artists that benefited of Prince's involvement during the 1980s. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica in California in 1959. Her career started as a model in the 1970s. Kotero also appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the role of the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer changed her name) and was replaced by Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the film under the name Apollonia 6. She made more of an impression on the charts when she was Prince's partner on Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince after the two fell out about the fate of Apollonia 6. Kotero went on to be featured in a few minor roles during the time (reportedly declining to appear on her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing a role on the night-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia had the opportunity to launch her debut album in the year 1988. It didn't leave a lasting impression with music fans and she soon faded off the scene. The actress continued acting (if somewhat under the radar) during the subsequent decade. Small TV appearances, minor films, as well as exercise videos kept her full of work. Apollonia recorded a Spanish/English Album named Stay With me in 1997. The singer returned to the university, received a diploma in filmmaking.
